The Biggest Liar competition
2005 Held on 17 November 2005
The Biggest liar competition was once again held at he Bridge Inn at Santon Last night. As usual the competition attracted a large sell out crowd who enjoyed a Tattie pot supper followed by the competition sponsored by Jennings Brewery.
The winning prize of being crowned the Worlds Biggest Liar went once again to Mike Naylor of Wasdale Head who wins the title for the second year running with a story of underwater goings on in the Wasdale valley, of a magical monster called Wassi and a fishy detective called James Pond !
Second Prize went to Graham Little from Northern Ireland who traveled all the way to Wasdale on the day to regail the crowd with a story of Moles with eternal life, and a spring of eternal youth
Third place went to another former winner George Kemp with a tale of hunting dogs with false teeth being chased by packs of foxes !
All in all there were 10 entries into the competition and the standard of Lie very high, we have recorded the competition and you are able to download each entry as an MP3 to listen to.
At the moment we only have the final five entries and the winners ceremony but will add the further 5 later on today
the line up was as follows:
1) Father Daniel with a tale of converting the fibbing tribe of Wasdale Head

2) A Franks from London with a tale of internet email fraud in the Wasdale valley
3) John Graham of Siloth with a story of bank managers and nightmares

4) George Kemp ( who came third) with false teeth and packs of hunting foxes

5) Graham Little ( who came second ) with giant moles hills and springs of eternal youth

6) Ben G Min with a fishy tale of Father Christmas

7) Howard Christie with single shoes and skulduggery in Wasdale

8) Mike Rampton from Front Magazine told a long tale of local ties and leathery substitutes!

9) Mike Naylor as Mr Exit ( he wanted to see his name in lights ) who won the competition with a underwater tale of monsters

10) George Sumner with a sub mariner story of an adult theme !
